MEET DR. BARRY COHEN

Dr. Barry Cohen has been practicing in the Dunwoody, Smyrna/Vinings and Duluth area for three decades. He is known for creating beautiful and esthetically pleasing smiles utilizing the latest in orthodontic technology. You will find that Dr. Cohen will exceed your expectations in creating a dazzling smile and functional bite. Our office is very friendly and welcoming. Dr. Cohen’s incredible team will deliver an exceptional experience at each and every visit.

As an orthodontist and dentofacial orthopedic specialist, Dr. Cohen understands how facial growth and development will affect tooth position and movement. Dr. Cohen always strives to stay educated in the latest advances and technologies in orthodontics. Dr. Cohen is a native Atlantan who grew up in the Buckhead area.

He attended Georgia Tech and Emory University. He received his B.S. in Biology and minored in Chemistry. He completed his D.D.S. at Emory University School of Dentistry and completed a two year residency at the Genesee Hospital in Rochester, NY. He then went on to complete his orthodontic specialty training at the world-renowned Eastman Institute of Oral Health in Rochester.

He returned to Atlanta to begin his orthodontic practice in 1988. Dr. Cohen is a Diplomate and Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Cohen is the father of three children and two fur babies. He is an avid sports enthusiast that loves tennis, skiing, football, baseball, kayaking and paddle boarding.

His oldest son attended the University of Wisconsin, so he cheers for the Badgers in the Big 10. At home, there is a “house divided” because he cheers for both UGA and Georgia Tech. As far as professional sports go, there are no other teams than the Falcons and Braves! When Dr Cohen is not at work, you can find him on the beach, hiking in the mountains with G & T (the fur babies), camping near a lake, or working out at the gym.

He also is active in the local community through donations to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Habitat for Humanity build sponsorships.

MEET DR. MATT COHEN

Dr. Matthew J. Cohen was born in upstate New York and then moved to Marietta, Georgia with his family, as his dad Dr. Barry D. Cohen began his orthodontic career. Matthew was raised in East Cobb with his two siblings, Adam and Rachel. He attended Walton High School from 2002-2006 and was a participant of the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program with a major in chemistry.

After graduating, he then attended Emory University from 2006-2010 where he majored in chemistry and minored in global public health. During his time at Emory, Matthew was nominated as an ORISE fellow at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Throughout his fellowship, he worked at the National Center for Infectious Disease and National Center for Environmental Health.

Matthew’s aspiration since he was a child was to pursue a career in the healthcare profession where he could help patients in need and improve their quality of life. With an acute interest in natural science, advanced artistic skills, and coupled with his passion of interacting with patients, Matthew decided to follow in his dad’s footsteps and pursue a career in the dental profession. Matthew attended the Medical College of Georgia, College of Dental Medicine in Augusta, Georgia.

He then went on to obtain a Master of Science degree and specialty training at the world-renowned Eastman Institute of Oral Health in Rochester, NY. Having started his career and joining his dad at Cohen Orthodontics, Dr. Matt is now able to pursue his dream of helping patients, interacting with them and their families and watching his patients transform and grow while perfecting their smile. In his free time, Dr. Matt enjoys outdoor activities such as such hiking, biking, skiing, camping, and fishing. In addition, he enjoys cooking and spending time with his family and friends.
